Electrotherapy - TENS & EMS
When an injury, surgery, or the passage of time limits your dog's movements, it is normal for their muscles to weaken or for pain to become a daily barrier.
At Indalo Wooff & Care, we know that every day counts in their recovery. That is why we use Electrotherapy as a very effective tool to restore their vitality.
Through small electrodes placed strategically and painlessly on their skin, we apply low-frequency currents. We primarily work with two types of therapy depending on what your dog needs: TENS (to switch off pain) and EMS (to strengthen the muscles).
The Great Benefits of Electrotherapy
- TENS: Deep, drug-free relief. This therapy acts as an "electrical painkiller." It emits small impulses that block pain signals before they reach the brain and stimulates the release of endorphins. It provides wonderful relief for dogs with severe osteoarthritis, back pain, or acute post-operative pain.
- EMS: A passive workout for their muscles. When a dog cannot bear weight on a leg (for example, after a ligament tear), the muscle atrophies quickly. EMS triggers controlled muscle contractions, keeping the muscle strong and healthy even while the dog is resting. It is vital for shortening rehabilitation times.
- Relief from contractures and spasms: Chronic pain causes dogs to alter their posture, overloading other areas of their body. Electrotherapy relaxes this accumulated tension, releasing contractures and improving their flexibility.
- A relaxing experience: Although the word "current" might sound intimidating, the reality is that the treatment is entirely painless. The sensation is like a gentle tickle or a vibrating massage. Most dogs relax deeply during the session, and some even fall asleep!
